INTRODUCING SCARLET HARMONY

OUR MISSION

Scarlet Harmony exists to create musical experiences that feel good, do good, and leave every room happier than we found it.

We are on a mission to bring back the playful, romantic charm of the golden oldies classics, but reimagined with modern sound and lots of heart.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Scarlet Harmony is launching in early 2026. Vocalists are currently practicing and musicians will start soon.

SPOTS OPEN FOR AUDITION

  • Male Vocalist
  • Female Vocalist
  • Double Bassist
  • Keyboardist
  • Drummer

The most important thing (in addition to the basics like musical talent, positive mindset, and reliability) is that each person genuinely loves this style of music. If we are all having fun and really vibing, we'll put on a great show!

Generally, vocalists should have a clear, resonant tone and be comfortable harmonizing. This style of music often uses voice as an instrument, so while various singers will take lead on each song they will all stay very involved throughout. A capella experience is a huge plus. A vocalist that can play keys is also a plus.

Musicians should be at a level where they can find their way through a nice arrangement for each song using a lead sheet and comfortable reliably working the full library of songs.

THE SOUND + SONGS

You know how Michael Buble brought modern richness to the timeless classics of Frank Sinatra? That is what we are doing for all kinds of fun songs from the doo-wop era (golden oldies/ standards/ late 50's/ early 60's). Here's a Spotify playlist with the initial batch of songs, but if you have a favorite to add we'll do that, too!

WHERE + WHEN

Initial auditions are in the Tempe area, ultimately the dedicated practice space is near Baseline + I-10 in Phoenix. Our live practices are Monday nights, 6-8:30pm.

GOT QUESTIONS?

WHAT IS THE BAND COMMITMENT?

We are here to create *experiences*

Excellence of sound is the baseline; we are really here to make sure people are having a really freaking good time! In order to ensure we can put on a good show we all have to be team members who reliably show up ready. We need each other! And, we need to be entertainers. It's less about the audience giving us attention, more about us helping them feel seen, feel good, and have plenty of reasons to smile.

It's a key part of our brand to show up as a full *vibe* so that means we always have a deliberate look. Gents wear black shoes, black or charcoal pants, a white button up, a vest or suspenders, and a black or red tie or bowtie. Ideally at least one element incorporating pinstripes. Hats optional but welcome! Ladies wear black and white and red. Usually a black and white dress with red heels or a red dress with black heels, but we'll choose a few options that people feel good in, together.

Generally, we ask each performer to commit for a calendar year. That means weekly practices in person, occasional zoom sessions, plus additional live ones to support special opportunities. We are aiming for 1-2 local performances per month, beginning in Q2. Think of it as a hobby band this year, but a very serious and committed hobby! We'll discuss renewals near the end of each year.

Lastly, this is intended to be a really positive experience for all of us, so the ideal band member is someone who values kindness, a can-do attitude, and is low-ego + high-eq. Life is too short and the more fun we have together the better experiences we can create for others! We have the opportunity to uplift others while expressing our hearts and talents, that's super cool! So let's help each other make it easy.

WHAT ARE THE PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES?

A bit TBD still :)

Since this is our launch year we'll need to make a name for ourselves, so we'll mainly be looking for local venues that want to feature a fun retro golden oldies night, hopefully east valley. But as soon as we are feeling settled with our first 30-40 songs and building out our unique arrangements we'll start pursuing more event-based gigs. Of course, all band members get paid on paid gigs  : ) Some funds may be reserved for marketing, equipment, etc, but all participants will always get a share!

IS THIS A RECORDING OR TOURING BAND?

The future is looking fun...

Let's think of it in Phases:

  • Phase 1: We get settled together + get our first 30-40 songs down, with arrangements similar to their original form. We'll do a mini-show at a retirement home or two to cut our teeth and deliver some happy nostalgia.
  • Phase 2: We start gigging at small local venues with a 2-3 hr show, in spring 2026.
  • Phase 3: We expand our setlist library (still golden oldies, just more of them) + start working on enhancing the arrangements for a fresh take.
  • Phase 4: We book local special event gigs, and consider starting to mix in originals.

It's not in the plan to do recording or touring at this time, but life is an adventure so we'll see where we wander. As long as we are having fun and creating smiles for others, whatever we want to do we can do!

The band leader, Christie, has experience getting music published through her small independent label and lots of business management + marketing experience... and she's not afraid to use it if we want to make something more. ;)

COME SAY HI!

MEET THE FOUNDER

It's fair to say that Christie Kerner, Scarlet Harmony's Founder + Creative Director, is more than a little obsessed with the sounds and songs of the doo-wop era. There's just something about that sweet, uplifting, vibe that never gets old.

Christie started performing as a singer, pianist, and musical theater actor at an early age. She brings a strong business mind to creative arts, so being a part of her crew is an easy, fun, and uplifting way to share your talent.
